Brief story:
A total of 21 Biaxo 4 and Biaxo 6 cast iron radiators were supplied for the restored interiors of the Fanta Building at Prague Main Railway Station. Finished in RAL 7016 Anthracite Grey, the radiators were sized to suit the requirements of individual rooms. They are complemented by Black Wheel thermostatic valves in a raw brass finish, bringing together traditional materials and practical temperature control.
Designed by Czech architect Josef Fanta and built between 1901 and 1909, the historic station building is an outstanding example of Prague’s Art Nouveau architecture. Its role changed significantly after the opening of the new station concourse in 1977. A phased restoration programme has been bringing the building back to life, preserving its architectural character while adapting its interiors for contemporary use.
The combination of anthracite cast iron and warm brass complements the historic timberwork. The classic column profiles of the Biaxo radiators integrate naturally into the restored spaces, making the heating installation part of the overall interior design.
