Brief story:
24 Biaxo cast iron radiators were supplied for the restoration of the Old Deanery in Nymburk, Czech Republic, with the Laurens project dated January 2025. Combining Biaxo 4 and Biaxo 6 models in two heights, the installation brings the understated character of traditional column radiators to this historic building beside the town’s medieval walls.
The radiators were supplied with an anthracite finish and accompanying installation accessories. Their classic proportions complement the building’s historic setting while meeting its present-day heating needs.
The Old Deanery, known locally as Staré děkanství, was built in 1657 following the destruction of its predecessor during the Saxon invasion of 1631. It adjoins the Kaplanka tower, constructed as part of Nymburk’s fortifications between 1288 and 1305 during the reign of King Wenceslaus II.
Following the Thirty Years’ War, the tower was repaired and adapted for residential use and grain storage for the parish. Later changes to the deanery include an entrance portal dated 1792. Together, the house and tower preserve several distinct chapters of the town’s architectural history.
The wider restoration programme combines the conservation of historic structures with new cultural, exhibition and visitor facilities. Works have included repairs to the roof and timber structures, restoration of windows, doors and historic finishes, and the renewal of building services. The Laurens radiator project forms part of this broader renewal, which continued beyond November 2024.
