Brief story:
Five bespoke Spiralix finned-tube radiators, each 5 metres long, were supplied for Kasteel Succa in Destelbergen, near Ghent, Belgium. Finished in matt RAL 9005 black, the radiators bring a bold, industrial detail to this historic château. Their elongated proportions and distinctive finned construction offer a contemporary contrast to the building’s traditional architecture.
Formerly known as Goet Ter Saelen, Kasteel Succa takes its name from the Italian de Succa family. Its documented history dates back to the sixteenth century, as does its surviving staircase tower. The château was partly rebuilt around 1700 and underwent further alterations over the following centuries. Architect Valentin Vaerwyck restored it in 1925. The château and its access bridges have been protected as a monument since 1981.
A recent restoration project, carried out in 2021–2023 by Artes Woudenberg to designs by Vincent Van Duysen Architects and Callebaut Architecten, adapted the estate as a family residence. The works included the interiors, roof, exterior joinery and façades, introducing contemporary elements with respect for the building’s heritage.
